Kazbegi Paragliding

Paragliding with a licensed tandem pilot is one of the safer ways to fly. The pilots we work with are certified tandem instructors with international licenses and 20+ years of experience.

Before every flight, the pilot checks the weather, inspects the gear, and runs a briefing with the passenger.

Every paraglider is equipped with a reserve parachute. Pilots regularly train for non-standard situations and know how to handle any wing state.

The gear is certified to international safety standards and undergoes regular inspections. All wings we use carry a safety rating in the category approved for tandem flights with passengers.

All flights are covered by Georgia's standard tourist insurance for active sports.

If you have your own travel insurance, we recommend checking with your provider whether it covers paragliding (an "extreme sports" rider is often required).

Duration depends on the chosen class:

• Express: 10–15 minutes in the air
• Free Your Soul / Aragvi Canyon: 15–20 minutes
• Sightseeing / Aerobatics: 20–25 minutes
• XC Adventure: 30+ minutes

The whole procedure (meeting at Café Bar PILOT → drive to launch → briefing → flight → return to the café) takes 1 to 2 hours.

The launch site in Gudauri is 2,400–2,700 m above sea level. In flight we gain another 200–500 m, depending on the thermals.

Air temperature is 5–10°C colder than ground level. In summer, regular clothing is fine; in winter, we provide a thermal suit, gloves, and helmet. We recommend bringing a hat and sunglasses.

From age 5, accompanied by a parent (written consent required).

For children under 12, we recommend calmer classes: Express or Free Your Soul. Aerobatics is available from age 16 and weight 40 kg+.

There's no upper age limit — we've had passengers 75+. What matters is no medical contraindications.

Maximum passenger weight: 125 kg. Minimum: 25 kg.

Weigh-in takes place on-site before the flight. Surcharge — cash or card at Café Bar PILOT.

Pregnancy: no — this is a safety rule.

After surgery — doctor's clearance required and at least 6 months of recovery.

Serious contraindications: heart conditions, recent spinal injuries, epilepsy, severe hypertension. If in doubt — message us on WhatsApp before booking, we'll discuss your situation.

Distances and travel times:

• Tbilisi → Gudauri: ~120 km, about 3 hours (can stretch to 3.5 h depending on traffic)
• Stepantsminda (Kazbegi) → Gudauri: ~40 km, usually 45 min – 1 hour
• Kutaisi → Gudauri: 5–5.5 hours minimum

The Georgian Military Road is the main route to Gudauri. It's busy with heavy trucks that move slowly and make passing difficult. Travel can take longer than your navigation app suggests.

Transport options:

• Marshrutka from Didube station (Tbilisi) — the cheapest option, price varies by season
• Bolt / Yandex Go — taxi from Tbilisi, app-based pricing (one-way only — the driver doesn't wait in Gudauri)
• Our transfer — fixed price, full-service round-trip (see below)

Bolt and taxis drop you one-way, and the driver doesn't wait. After the flight, you have to find return transport yourself — and Gudauri doesn't always have free cars, especially in winter.

Prices and routes are discussed individually on WhatsApp at booking. We recommend leaving early, especially in winter — the Georgian Military Road is unpredictable.

This is our home café-bar, open daily 09:00–21:00. Coordinates and exact directions are sent on WhatsApp after booking.

Bring with you: comfortable clothing (sports or hiking), trainers or hiking boots, sunglasses; in winter — gloves and a hat. We provide a warm jacket in winter.

Safety is the top priority. If weather conditions (wind, visibility, cloud cover) don't allow a safe flight, the pilot cancels the flight for that day.

In that case we offer:

• Free rescheduling to another date (preferred option)
• Deposit refund — minus bank / transaction fees

The final weather call is made on the morning of the flight day. We'll contact you on WhatsApp 1–2 hours before the meeting time.

Two different payment scenarios — the choice depends on whether you (or the recipient) have a specific date and time.

When to choose a certificate:

• You want to give an unforgettable gift
• You value flexible plans
• Uncertain dates
• Want to pay for someone in advance

When to choose slot booking:

• You're sure of your Gudauri arrival date
• You've booked accommodation in Georgia
• You want a guaranteed spot in our schedule

There are two types:

• Specific flight — you pick the class (Express, Free Your Soul, Aerobatics, etc.). The recipient arrives and flies that class.
• Cash certificate — a fixed amount (e.g. 500 GEL). The recipient decides what to spend it on: any flight class, media, transfer, tour, academy.

Certificates start from 500 GEL.

A cash certificate is more flexible: it gives the recipient freedom of choice. A specific-flight certificate is a more "tangible" gift.

1 year from purchase. The expiry date is shown on the certificate.

If it expires, you can extend by 1 more year for 50% of the certificate price. To extend — message us on WhatsApp.

The recipient contacts us on WhatsApp (+995 551 35 5000), provides the certificate number, and agrees on a convenient date. We confirm the slot in the schedule.

This rule protects our schedule: the pilot blocks out time, and if no one shows, the slot is lost. If weather is unsafe — we reschedule for free (it's the pilot's call, not the client's).

The certificate is personal and non-transferable. The recipient's name is set at purchase and cannot be changed.

This rule protects the buyer: no third party can "pick up" the certificate and use it.

Yes. If the cash certificate is 500 GEL and the recipient wants a 649 GEL flight — the 149 GEL difference is paid in cash at Café Bar PILOT at the meeting.

This works for any upgrade: more expensive flight class, additional media (4K video, drone, photos), weight-category surcharge.

Yes, upgrades are possible. If you have an Express certificate (349 GEL) and want Aerobatics (599 GEL) — pay the 250 GEL difference in cash at Café Bar PILOT on the flight day.

If the certificate amount exceeds the chosen flight price (e.g. a 549 GEL Sightseeing certificate but the recipient chose Express at 349 GEL) — the remainder is not refundable in cash but can be used for media, transfer, or another activity.

Refunds for certificates are not available.

If the recipient can't use the certificate within a year, you can extend it for another year at 50% of the price.

• Bank of Georgia transfer
• Cash at Café Bar PILOT — if you're already in Gudauri and none of the above methods work for you

All bank and transaction fees are paid by the client.

The slot booking deposit is non-refundable if the client cancels themselves, is late, or doesn't show up on the scheduled day.

A deposit refund is only possible in one case: the flight is cancelled due to weather or the pilot's decision. Then you receive either free rescheduling to another date, or a deposit refund (minus transaction fees and the cost of partially provided services — see the weather question above).
